British Airways Adjusts Mauritius Flight Schedule

Earlier this year British Airways announced it was adding additional flights to and from Mauritius using Gatwick its primary Indian Ocean hub. That news was made even better following an announcement last week that the company has revamped its current flight schedule which will allow its Mauritius passengers to enjoy an extra day on the island.

Flights returning to Gatwick from Mauritius will now depart 12 hours later, effectively giving passengers an extra day to relax before returning home. The move also helps the airline, which has now switched from Heathrow to Gatwick for its primary leisure flights heading to the east. British airways just opened a brand-new state-of-the-art Gatwick extension which will now handle all their flights in and out of that airport. The entire project has been designed to make the Gatwick terminal the hub for all of British Airways holiday destinations. The change in the Mauritius flight schedules is just one of the tools the company is using to realize those goals.

"We have a strong premium leisure strategy for Gatwick - we want it to be a hub for great high-end holiday destinations," said Gatwick director Silla Maizey in an official statement. "Moving the Mauritius flight here helps us to strengthen this position as it will now sit alongside destinations such as the Maldives and the Caribbean...This new timing has an evening departure from Mauritius and an early morning arrival into Gatwick, giving back customers a full day at their destination when they would otherwise have been flying."

Mauritius luxury holidays are a premium product from British Airways due to the fact that the airline has relationships with other partners to provide holiday packages to customers. Through tour operators Europeans can get all-inclusive packages at any number of five-star resorts including big names like Long Beach, Le Touessrok, and the One and Only Le Saint Geran. There are also packages available for more budget-friendly three and four-star hotels.

The main draw of Mauritius is obviously her natural surroundings and tropical weather. More than one European visitor has returned home only to rave about a 10-day holiday in a relaxing tropical paradise complete with private accommodations, crystal-clear waters, and miles and miles of white sand beaches. Winter time is the perfect time to visit Mauritius, making it especially important that British Airways has altered their flight schedule at this time.

Couples and families still looking to plan Christmas holidays will find that there is space open at many of Mauritius' best resorts. Most of those resorts are planning special holiday events so that customers can still enjoy a wonderful Christmas experience while on holiday. One resort in particular is planning the arrival of Santa Claus on water skis, followed by a gift giving brunch with all of the children. Other events include holiday parties, themed shows, and special Christmas decorations.
