Maldives Welcomes Several New Resort Properties

Perhaps no Indian Ocean travel destination has received as much bad press as the Maldives over the last five to seven years. From political problems to the island nation's withdrawal from the British Commonwealth, the Maldives have had to work extra hard to overcome negative perceptions. To that end, they have welcomed several new resort properties since last summer.Maldives all-inclusive holidays have long been a good deal for UK holidaymakers looking for an affordable holiday in the Indian Ocean region. Accommodations of all levels are abundant, so the new resorts that opened their doors in 2016 have only added to an already generous resort selection. Topping it all off is the legendary Indian Ocean weather that is hard to beat. Holidaymakers could certainly do worse.

Among the new resorts opening since the middle of last year are the following:

St Regis Maldives Vommuli Island Resort

Seasoned travellers are fully aware of the St Regis brand. Few other brands compared to St Regis in terms of overall luxury. Their new Maldives resort is set on 23 acres of property dense with local vegetation and resplendent with a variety of wildlife.

Soneva Jani

Noonu Atoll, in the northern section of the Maldives chain, is home to a new resort known as Soneva Jani. The island is expected to eventually house nearly three dozen villas along with dining, shopping and leisure facilities. For now, though, Soneva Jani is the property of choice. It offers 24 luxury villas and a stunning boardwalk that carries guests out over the lagoon.

This resort has been designed around the party atmosphere. Its public spaces include state-of-the-art sound equipment blasting everything from Michael Jackson to Rod Stewart to Barbara Streisand. The property also includes an exclusive screening room where guests can enjoy headlining films.

Four Seasons at Voavah

The Four Seasons brand is right on par with St Regis in nearly every aspect. So we shouldn't be surprised that they've opened a new resort on the private island of Voavah. Four Seasons Voavah offers an unparalleled level of luxury for those who have the money to spend without worrying how much they are actually spending. Villas are large enough to comfortably accommodate everything from a small family to an entire entourage.
