Mauritius Home To Africa’s Best Airport
Although most people do not take airport quality into consideration when choosing where to take their annual holiday, it is nice to know that an airport you are flying to has been given a prestigious award. And those flying to Mauritius in 2016, will be pleased to hear that the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport has been named Africa's best airport for 2015. The airport came out top in the 'over 2 million passengers per year' category, with Cape Town and Durban sharing second ahead of Johannesburg in third. Mauritius' international airport was the firm favourite with passengers who were surveyed on customer service.
The survey took part in thirty airports across eight countries, and over 55,000 people took part. Passengers were asked about services including security, access, airport facilities, food and drink, and retail. Director General of ACI World, Angela Gitten, said, “Airports have evolved into complex, customer-focused businesses in their own right, that in many cases are in competition with each other for passenger traffic. From duty-free and restaurants to ambiance, cleanliness, courtesy of staff, amenities, efficiency and more, air travellers are expecting big things from the airports through which they travel.”
