Mauritius Tourism Figures Expected To Be Up In 2016

The Minister for Tourism in Mauritius has announced that there is expected to be a tourist increase of around eight to ten percent for 2016. Tourism is one of the biggest sectors in Mauritian industry and is a significant contributor to the island nation’s economy, so this is welcome news. Minister Charles Gaëtan Xavier-Luc Duval said that January (2016) arrivals were already up by 14.4 per cent and added, “This exceptional growth makes us more optimistic for the rest of the year. We expect tourist numbers to grow by around 8 to 10 percent in 2016.” Visiting Mauritius

Two-thirds of visitors to Mauritius come from Europe, and this beautiful paradise has always been popular with British holidaymakers looking to enjoy a truly unique time abroad. Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean and has long been a sought-after destination for the rich and famous. The laid back atmosphere, stunning surroundings, and exceptional service in the superb resorts makes it the holiday destination most people dream of.

However, holidays to Mauritius are no longer reserved for the rich and famous. As air travel becomes less expensive, holidaymakers are finding that this wonderful tropical paradise has become more affordable. And thanks to all-inclusive holiday packages, there is no need to worry once you have paid for the holiday as all the food and drink is included in the price.

Welcoming People

Mauritius is well known for its friendly and welcoming locals who want to ensure that visitors continue to arrive on their island. This multicultural society is the perfect place to relax and unwind and is proof that people from all backgrounds can all live in peace and harmony together. Mauritius is home to many ethnic groups, including Creoles, Muslims, Europeans, Chinese and Hindus; visitors often comment on how tolerant and kind the people of Mauritius are.

Luxurious Surroundings

Most of the resorts in Mauritius offer a first class service and guests can enjoy being pampered and treated like royalty. With luxurious surroundings and plenty of delicious food and drink on offer, Mauritius really is the perfect place for a holiday.

Things to Do

Mauritius is probably best known for its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Visitors can enjoy long lazy days lounging by the pool or sinking their toes into the soft, warm sands as they gaze out across the Indian Ocean. However, for those who like to keep busy, there are many opportunities to explore the island or to take part in both land- or water-based activities.

Although most visitors to the island nation would never have to leave their resort, they are encouraged to do so in order to fully appreciate this stunning part of the world. Excursions are typically on offer at Mauritius resorts, giving guests the chance to see more of this beautiful island nation.
