Mauritius Tourism Figures Expected To Be Up In 2016

The Minister for Tourism in Mauritius has announced that there is expected to be a tourist increase of around eight to ten percent for 2016. Tourism is one of the biggest sectors in Mauritian industry and is a significant contributor to the island nation’s economy, so this is welcome news. Minister Charles Gaëtan Xavier-Luc Duval said that January (2016) arrivals were already up by 14.4 per cent and added, “This exceptional growth makes us more optimistic for the rest of the year. We expect tourist numbers to grow by around 8 to 10 percent in 2016.” Visiting Mauritius

However, for those who like to keep busy, there are many opportunities to explore the island or to take part in both land- or water-based activities.
