Missoni Hotel Brand Coming To Mauritius In 2014

Joining a growing list of tourism-related companies announcing their expansion in Mauritius, Rezidor Hotel Group (RHG) has made public its plans to open a new luxury property on the Indian Ocean island in 2014. RHG will manage the new hotel under the renowned Hotel Missoni brand-name; a name which is already popular in the UK and Kuwait. The hotel will be owned by French hospitality developer Bouigue Développement.

Hotel Missoni Mauritius will be everything the brand is known for its other locations. The hotel will include a 900m˛ spa offering the finest treatments for relaxation and well-being. Guests will also enjoy Cucina, the Missoni brand signature dining experience which brings a unique European influence to traditional Mauritian dining.

The hotel's 80 suites will overlook the Indian Ocean and will feature an outdoor Varangue, exclusive Missoni fabrics, well apportioned rooms, and world-class amenities. And in addition to 650m of pristine beach, guests will enjoy two outdoor swimming pools, a fitness area, and much more.

"Combining Missoni's iconic design with the local culture influenced by Europe, Africa and Asia, the hotel will be truly unique in Mauritius," said RGH CEO and President Kurt Ritter.

No date has been given for the hotel's grand opening at this time. But if the property lives up to expectations it may very well become the perfect destination for a romantic Mauritius beach wedding or honeymoon. The island already provides a relaxing and romantic atmosphere with its tranquil lagoons and peaceful, reef-protected waters. Couples have long flocked to the region to enjoy private getaways incorporating beautiful weather, ideal scenery, stunning views, and impeccable personal service.

But there's more.

Hotel Missoni Mauritius is not the only new resort option for visitors to Mauritius. Banyan Tree just announced a brand-new Angsana hotel at Turtle Bay within the last couple of days, and there are two more slated to open sometime next year. On the northern part of the island a new, 10-year, multi-million pound development is under way which will add several more resorts, a theme park, and other tourist venues. All of the construction is part of a concerted effort by the Mauritian tourism industry to further cement its position as the number one tourist destination in the region.

Between all of the resort options and the long list of activities, it's not hard to see why Mauritius is doing so well. That wasn't always the case, however. During the dark years of the 1970s the island was struggling to stay afloat in a quickly expanding global economy. But government officials and tourism-based businesses joined forces in unique and creative ways that have since resulted in a tourism explosion for Mauritius. If the current construction trends on the island are any indication, the expansion of the tourist trade is expected to continue for some time into the future.
