Well-Known Mauritian Resort Joins Ata

Isla Mauricia, a tourist resort on a private peninsula in the Grand Baie region of Mauritius, has become the first private sector enterprise on the island to join the Africa Travel Association (ATA). The ATA is an internationally-known agency based in New York City whose mission is to promote Africa to the rest of the world. In so doing, the ATA and its member bodies encourage visitors from all over the world to spend some time in Africa.

As for Mauritius, they enjoy a reputation of being one of the finest holiday destinations in the world. However, most of the visitors comes from France and the U.K. Isla Mauricia signed on to the organization with the expectation of attracting more travellers from the US and Canada. The ATA hopes their actions will spur more participation from other private sector entities eager to get a piece of an untapped market in North America that can be parleyed into tourism success.

If it efforts are successful, North American visitors will find out what Europeans have known all along - Mauritius is a tropical paradise worthy of at least one visit in a lifetime. But the experienced personal traveller also knows that once is never enough. If you've been to Mauritius you'll want to return many times over.

Holidays to Mauritius are typically centred on the wide range of water sports available. Except for the months of December and January, when the Indian Ocean is prone to heavy rains and high winds, visitors enjoy a long list of activities on the water including PADI diving, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, water skiing, sailing, and more. The miles and miles of white sand beaches also make for wonderfully relaxing days in the Mauritian son.

Golf holidays are something else this island nation is quickly gaining a reputation for. There are no fewer than four championship golf courses across Mauritius along with many others as well. Imagine teeing off on the first hole while overlooking the glorious Indian Ocean. Cool island breezes and consistently spectacular views will carry you through 18 holes for a most enjoyable day on the links. There are even resorts offering instructional packages geared around various members of your family. Whether you're just a beginner or a well-seasoned veteran, your golf game will get better on Mauritius.

The best thing about the Mauritian holiday may very well be the resorts themselves. Resort operators continually go out of their way to offer the most relaxing, enjoyable, and luxurious holiday possible. From private bungalows built over a peaceful lagoon to architecture based on native and colonial designs, your stay on Mauritius will be like none other. Whether you're a honeymoon couple looking for a private getaway or a family taking your summer holidays together, Mauritius has accommodations suitable for you.

If you've never visited this part of the Indian Ocean now is the best time to book your holidays. Take a few weeks and discover the tropical paradise of Mauritius before everyone from North America arrives. You'll be glad you did.
