When Is The Best Time To Visit Mauritius

If you are planning a wedding and are thinking about where to go for your honeymoon, your thoughts may have turned to the tropical island paradise destination of Mauritius – and for good reason. This part of the world is absolutely stunning, with fantastic resorts that cater to guests’ every whim. But when is the best time to visit Mauritius Are there certain times of the year that are better in terms of hours of sunshine or low rainfall Mauritius Climate

The climate in Mauritius is tropical, which means that the country benefits from warm weather all year round. However, there are certain times of the year when it is probably best to avoid this part of the Indian Ocean, particularly from January to March when the wet cyclone season hits. It is also probably best to steer clear of the east coast of the island during July and August because of the intense winds that usually prevail during these months.

On the whole though, Mauritius luxury holidays can be enjoyed at any time of the year because the temperatures remain relatively steady and the sun is almost always shining. In the Chamarel Mountain area to the south of the island, rain can occur at any time, which is part of the reason that this part of Mauritius is so lush and green.

Temperatures across Mauritius tend to range between 21oC and 26oC during the day and can drop to around 19oC at night. The water temperatures are constantly warm and there is between six and nine hours of sunshine every day, depending on the time of year.

Popular Months

Since Mauritius has year-round warm temperatures, it tends to be a popular holiday destination during the UK's colder winter months. Early January is extremely popular as many people just want to get away after Christmas.

As mentioned above though, with cyclones possible from late January and into February, it is best to avoid travelling to the island at this time of year if possible. March and April can be quite hot and humid, so many tourists choose to enjoy luxury Mauritius holidays in May, when the humidity drops and the temperature is more pleasant. December is also a very popular month because many of the resorts celebrate Christmas and the New Year in style. Parties and festivals are the norm and guests can enjoy this special time of the year in real style.
